Sample Business Blog
Strategies
1. Becoming a
Thought Leader
Tactics:
- Opinion papers - Share these with your readers so they
can get an idea of where you stand on certain topics.
- Client project acquisitions - Keep everyone up to date
on which clients your company is working with and what you are
doing for them.
- Speaking engagements with summaries - Post when and
where you are going to be speaking, and then summarize the event.
- Job openings - Your job openings will be seen by many
people on your blog, and those people will spread the word. This
is one of the best and easiest ways to attract applicants.
2. Increase Retail Sales
Tactics:
- Customer endorsements - If you have a customer who is
writing an endorsement for advertising purposes, post it on your
blog, too.
- Product reviews - Ask buyers of your products to write
a review. By posting them in your blog, the people considering
your product will have honest opinions to help them make their
decision.
- New uses & accessories - Don't forget about the
customers who have already bought from you. Keep them informed of
how you are making the product they already own better.
- Sales and promotions - Post any special offers you are
having to help drive your sales.
3. Increase Customer Loyalty
Tactics:
- Customer service tips - Post tips to improve customer
relationships and enhance their experience with your products.
- Troubleshooting - Your blog can provide a centralized
location for customers to find troubleshooting instructions.
- Planned upgrades - Let your customers know when
upgrades will be happening.
- Upgrades already completed - Inform customers of the
upgrades that have already been completed, showing them that you
are constantly working to improve your products.
4. Increase Online Subscriptions
Tactics:
- Teaser content - Post just a snippet of a new
publication before it's released to pique readers' interest.
- Publication events/Author appearances - Use your blog
to announce events and appearances. After each event, you can post
an update on what happened.
- Discounts and promotions - Post special offers to help
drive your sales.
- New writers info - Share information on new writers in
your blog to generate buzz.
- Increased exposure for advertisers - More interested
eyes on your business and, in turn, more eyes on your advertisers.
A win-win situation for everyone involved.
5. Employee Morale & Retention
Tactics:
- Information From the Top - A blog is a great place to
post relevant company memos and other news that employees need to
be aware of.
- Project & Timeline Updates - Cut down on confusion
by posting important project information and deadlines.
- Company Goals - Does your staff know the goals of the
company? Post them on your blog for everyone to read and become
familiar with.
- Direction From a Consistent Source - A common employee
complaint is that they don't know what's going on within the
company. Your staff will be happier when you keep them in the
loop.
